Gus, have you thought of applying to Ampex for one of their open technical positions? It seems you're the only one here who can remotely(don't mean to demean anyone;) ) understand this incredibly complex technology.
Are things different this time? My two word answer:Public and Bramson. Now that they've been a public company after being under Allied Signal and then Sherborne Holdings, and now that they're no longer in the sweet and predictable tv products market much, they've got to scramble and scrap for their business, and it all gets valued every day by the public who owns it. I think the remnant employees, only 500 are left out of thousands previously, are running hard.
Bramson seems like a no nonsense kinda guy, who sees dollar signs when he looks at the technology, not dreams of industry awards or technical achievements. I guess with 19% of the company under your control, you'd better be interested in money! He just seems like a good chief to have in charge, based upon his so far good record of sobriety, clear commercial aims rather than mere technical or bragging claims to cutting edge tech, and evident work rather than hype ethic.
