In defense of the 'gurus' many of them sounded very bearish over the weekend. Going long index puts (ex: OEX DEC 555, 560, 570) at the open would have served you about a double by the end of the day today. However, trying to time a change in the trend is difficult.

I do think Gary B Smith from TSC has system that works: simply breakout from congestion up or down.

Also, I do not expect anyone to be right every time. In the market, that's impossible.
