Has anyone on this thread converted an existing Datek conventional IRA account into a Datek Roth IRA account? I did and after receiving my new username and password and being unable to access my (very small) Roth account I finally discovered (about two weeks later) that I was supposed to download an "Internal Transfer Form" off of Datek's site and send this in. I am asking this for my own peace of mind. I was even told by one person at Datek that I should not make any trades until the transfer was complete as this may be the reason for the delay. I just wondered how anyone else was able to figure out that all the forms did not come in the mail and that you were somehow supposed to know to go to a certain site and copy off a certain form. I even asked when I called Datek if I could speak to someone who knew about the Roth transfers, or at least someone in the IRA department and the reply I got was that there was no such special department or person available. I work at a University library and people freak out and demand immediate attention and return phone calls... for $2.00 and $3.00 library fines and we accommodate them. All I wanted was to know what was holding up my "internal transfer" and it took a long time to find out. I was told twice that someone would find out what the delay was and call me back and I was never called back. I realize this is a discount brokerage, but I get more diligence at a deli or a car wash. These folks are dealing with peoples' life savings for gosh sakes! I have to say that I have dealt with some very capable and helpful people at Datek.
