Len,

I've pretty much always noticed that everything moved in slow motion once Java got launched. To be fair, I likely had 10 pounds running in a 5 pound bag and could have blamed pounds #11 and #12 for making a mess of things. <g>

Yet I remain leery of Java. I don't think I have ever had both a gritch window and the Datek streamer run for half a trading session on the same machine without the reset button coming into play. <g> But without really shooting the dump, who can know?

Perhaps I should use Netscape for one of the Java applets, then perhaps I could last half a day. What I likely needed most was more raw horsepower and memory, and I think I've done that so I'll see how they run now.

Sounds like I'll be loading Sun. Thanks!

Paul

PS Is the Watcher worth looking into? I made some tentative steps some time ago, but the support seemed thin and the phone setup was expensive. Is it still 486 and DOS-based? I suppose as long as it runs well the snobbery of faster chips and more GUI overhead tend to cancel.
