well i'm the kind of guy who likes to think that the glass is half
full in the small cap world. it's been almost 3yrs. since anyone has
made some real money in the second and third tier stock world.ltxx
has been in the dog house for nearly 3 yrs.and i think that the write offs are just about over. semi.test equipment i think will be the first to come back in the area of capital spending for semi. manufacturing.
japan was once the world leader in semi production and still commands a serious market share today. but japan has some real problems in their banking sector. the final tally for non-performing loans coupled with asset losses that they carry on their books in stocks could be $800billion to nearly a trillion dollars. i work for jvc disk
america. the thing that impresses me about the japanese is their ability to adapt and incorporate new technologies. their semi manufacturing industry lost ground to the US because they lost in the area of innovations. systems on a chip and risk base processors are the future. fusion tech. that ltx has developed could be very big next year and beyond. it's tuff to do business in japan without an in country partner and this is why i think they closed this agreement.
the purpose of the transaction was the acquisition of certain sales,
manufacturing and marketing rights in japan. my guess is that they will receive royalties from all sales and the $10 mil was a licensing
fee. japan will come back but not until the year 2000. but when they
return look out, the asian learns well from their mistakes.
