Vernon casino relocated and completed
Mr. Steve Kumpf reports
The company has completed and relocated the Vernon casino. Construction
commenced on the estimated $2.5-million project in Aug. 1998 at the Village
Green Hotel in Vernon, B.C. The casino features a Santa Fe theme including
various rooflines, murals, and special lighting effects. The 12,000 sq ft
facility has an 8,000 sq ft gaming floor with 177 slots (double of old
location) and 10 gaming tables. An estimated 50 new staff were hired
locally to accommodate the expansion.
The Village Green Hotel is a full service hotel with 134 rooms, a sports
bar, lounge, dining, gift shop, pool and ample parking. The location is
highway frontage and is the access point to Silver Star Mountain, a popular
ski resort. The hotel has increased staffing, marketing, and has commenced
renovations in conjunction with the casino opening. The casino opens Dec.
15, 1998 and will operate from 10 a.m. - 2 a.m. each day.
Bus tours have already been arranged for Vernon during the off season. A
number of bus tour companies have also approached the company regarding
packages for this summer. The company is now able to offer the size and
quality of casino to accommodate the needs of the major tour companies.
This will be of benefit to the entire community.
