John, I have not see ANY evidence of big institution selling.
A 1000 share trade is a retail trade (by an individual). The 50,000
shares I referred to on the day after LGND's presentation were
the total sales by 70 executions. Thus, the average trade was less
than 1000 shares. Institutions do not do trades below 1000 (and
most don't do trades below 5,000 or 10,000 share blocks). Most quote providers
that report large block trades draw the line at 10,000 shares. The
post LGND H&Q presentation trading was virtually ALL retail.
