I don't think that NCs will ever replace PCs because of all the reason mentioned in the thread. However, NCs are good machines for Information providers like A.C. Neilsen and Bloomberg in the financial svcs industry. At present, they customize a Sun workstation (which costs $4k or more) and rent out the terminals (bloomberg terminals) to investment banks for $6K a month. Imagine howmuch Bloomberg will save if it uses Javastations instead. Also, javastation is good because information is not stored on local disk (which Bloomberg likes).

NCs will fare well in the desktop productivity market which is where all of you are getting examples from. They should be targetted to information junkies markets like wall street traders, analysts and health care industry, customer services depts of large banks etc.
