TDXpert Expanded to Support Compaq's Configure-to-Order Program; Non-Branded Solutions Support Planned for January 1999
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 15, 1998-- Tech Data Corporation [Nasdaq:TECD - news], a leading global distributor of technology products, and pcOrder, the leading provider of electronic commerce technology and services for the computer industry, today announced the reseller channel launch of TDXpert -- the computer industry's first Web-based configuration tool to support system manufacturers' channel assembly programs.
Resellers who beta tested TDXpert gave the tool high ratings for ease of use, overall functionality and business benefits that include greatly simplified component selection for custom solutions. Built using Austin, Texas based pcOrder technology, TDXpert has been expanded to support Compaq Computer Corp [NYSE:CPQ - news].'s Configure-to-Order program in addition to IBM's Authorized Assembler Program.
