Thread- Re: Kim Eun Joo-

Thanks to people on this thread, a money order(*) for $340 is on its way to Eun Joo's mother. I posted it at lunch, and also sent this morning a letter to the Kims.

My heartfelt appreciation to those who have expressed an interest in this child, and particularly to the individual who contributed over half the amount sent. My next step is to get a non-profit willing to act as a financial clearinghouse (I won't regale the thread with the difficulty I've had getting a postal money order for S. Korea, but it took three trips to the post office). Also, I expect to inquire about financial assistance from organizations to help this girl continue with her musical education. I would be grateful for suggestions people might have about organizations that might be willing to assist.

(*) actually it's an Authorization to Issue an International Money Order, which is issued by the local post office. I sent the Authorization to an address in St. Louis, which will issue a money order and forward it to the Kims. In the end I selected the Post Office because I could get confirmation that the money order was cashed. My bank could not offer that.
