I hate to break the news to you but the American electorate has an attention span of about a week and by the time the year 2000 arrives most folks will be saying "Bill who?"

I do hope that this issue ends up in the Senate and drags on for months, resulting in the more vital "saving Social Security" and other key issues getting bogged down and unresolved when the year 2000 elections come up...

There would be no point in the people blaming Clinton then. Besides, he is not up for re-election anyways. There would be no point in blaming the Democrats either, for it was not their vote that took the issue to the Senate. That leaves the Republicans and only the Republicans. Just what the Democrats need to make a clean sweep.
