Richard,
Maybe this person bought Maxam for $2.00 plus and needed to take the loss for capital gains but it seems someone always sells just a few shares at the lowest price like someone is simply trying to keep the price at the lowest they can.
On the other hand if they needed the $ 52.50 less commission then they probably should have never purchased the shares in the first place.

Imho I would say it is for one of two different reasons 1. they needed the tax write off or 2. shorts again.
