<Reg, that is a low-level device driver... a logical thing to include in an OS and one that needs to be integrated to get the best performance.>

Let me address you and Chaz on this point. Trumpet software made a software package that enabled winsock installation and configuration. MSFT did damage to thier business model by including Winsock in the OS. That is why I keep referring to applications.

<The same cannot be said for integrating the browser. Sorry, but you are completely and utterly wrong on this point.>

Why is that? Browsing files is a natural function to include in the OS, and has been eagerly desired since the DOS days. Visual browsing is just a natural extension of the menu driven file browser days (EDDY was my favorite) and the pre-win32 heirechal tree based file browser (windows explorer). Are you trying to tell me that the file explorer in windows is somehow significantly different in concept and function than the WAN browser that your company pushes. It would seem to me that if a file browser is a handy integration into the OS, than it really should not make a difference whether those files are stored locally, on a LAN, WAN or the Internet.

I welcome your reply, for IMO this goes to the heart of whether NSCP has a legitimate anti-trust gripe or whether they are jsut crybabies that were beat at their own game. Remember that Andreseen crowed that the browser would soon become a WAN OS, making Windows irrelavant. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
