Irish,
If you are so certain about Apple's demise, why aren't you shorting the stock with everything you have? You seem so certain, so why pass up this great opportunity for wealth? Given your foresight and knowledge, it seems that you would be exercising incredibly poor judgment if you did not commit a substantial part of your net worth to betting against this "dead company". I suspect that you have invested nothing toward shorting Apple, and that you're just spouting off. Otherwise, it would be fun watching you scramble to cover in a year or two...

You forget that Microsoft needs Apple to survive, both to protect them from the feds (perception is important in this regard too, and Apple keeps Microsoft from appearing to create a monopoly) and because Apple users are one of Microsoft's largest customers. Why do you think that Microsoft just created a separate division solely devoted to Mac software? Because they want Apple to die? I don't think so... but you obviously do, so SHORT THE STOCK!!
