rude,

Nice to see you on a more socialy oriented thread...

The only relatively (180,000 miles) high mileage vehicle I had was my first rebuild. A Dodge D100 (RHD) which I picked up for the equivalent of about $2500 in SA.

It had the old six cylinder motor in it which we pulled along with the drive-train. While that was all out, we spent a year stripping the interior, sanding down to bear metal, repainting (in Chrysler Racing Orange) and rebuilding the suspension (this time we included an anti-roll bar at the front).

The motor was replaced by a rebuilt Hemi (at the time of the rebuild, it had about 120,000 miles. What a pleasure!! Attached to a 3-speed Fulray shifter (1st was left and back...).

What a pleasure, you could drag motor bikes at the lights easily! (Only to about 140kmph though, it ran out of legs due to sprint gear ratio choices).

I was a kid then, my mentor was one of the original Chrysler Team Racing mechanics in SA before they pulled out during the sanctions era. Happiest days of my life...
