Since the lawsuit announcement, MIFGY has been making the news releases. Previously they released hardly anything, it appeared the company was on autopilot while management was away on extended leave. Nice to see press releases, little late, but at least something. I like the idea of JAVA, hopefully they can backwards compatable to existing cobol apps. embedded in every corporate system. Being able to link to these systems is a must. I don't know how you displace the foundations of corporations software infrastructure, seeing it was laid with cobol. If JAVA can provide the feeds back to it or extract from it then wonderful. Maybe someone can tell us if any of the new software systems are displacing the software cobol infrastructure in corporations, say SAP, or PeopleSoft, or any of the others in the market. I'm sure they displace some higher apps, but are they at the rundimentary foundations of the systems. i look at our corporation and cobol programs written in the 60" are still running strong. they've had numerous work done to them, but they're still there. So the question is, will they ever be replaced?
