There is SO much more to be realized about economics, relative costs of products versus incomes for the poor, that I believe would improve as a result of my FREEDOM WORKS "ideal"(not!- I see no utopia so soon). If you were truly aware of the reasons for my "misguided" confidence we'd have a discussion. Or you'd just agree!VBG. That I'm misguided is but a conviction you have- based on your view. That's alright.
I'm straightforward, sure, and folks often assume I haven't been touched by seeing the poor, the guts, and the insides of the houses. But such experience is exactly why I feel as I do. Long enough ago, I often echoed exactly your sentiments....but evidence changed my mind. I think I'm one of the good guys. If you view me as misguided, it follows that you feel your opinion is superior. Seemingly sadly, I feel the same for my own opinion. I DO believe that where good intentions rule, all are good guys, and the good will win out in the end. Of course, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. To solve that little problem, we have to be open-minded with our good intentions. What you don't know can, in fact, get you killed! I'd like to help the poor where I can. So I try to explain the benefits of freedom- believing it offers what government never can toward the well being of us all.
Dick Armeys answer "tough" to the poor, really missed the guts of the matter. I don't think that's the way to think at all. |
