I don't know that I read the original bean-counting discussion, but getting unbiased estimates of e-commerce growth and internet growth in general over the next few years is, arguably, one of the most important issues for corporate investment strategies. That is probably one reason why there are not a lot of figures out there, since companies would treat their own estimates as propietary. But it surprises me that the DOC would not have done their own estimate, but instead relied on UUnet's estimate. Not to denigrate their estimate, but this is the type of number that the government ought to size themselves.
