Jim, I don't know the total, but currently the analog phone sales are less than 20% of Nokia's total mobile handset sales - though that's still pretty high compared to companies like Ericsson, which are 100% digital as far as phones go.
Mika, the new network sales just keep on piling. What is interesting here is the way novel technological features seem to be driving the deals. Dual band networks with Intelligent Network solutions, High Capacity GSM base stations, High Speed Circuit Switched Data, Artus Messaging platform, DX 200 fixed switching equipment, world's first ETSI standard ADSL and IP network, etc.
They all revolve around boosting network capacity, integrating data and voice traffic, adding data capability to mobile networks, increasing data transmission rates. No, I don't *really* understand this stuff, but it impresses me anyway. I'm not seeing the same kind of burst of new network tech from Motorola and Ericsson - and they keep losing these bidding wars.
The new golden Nokia 8810 came on sale in Finland today... 24 carat covers, numbered units and 1'900 US$ list price. You can ask my address via e-mail if you want to send me one. Use FedEx, the Finnish mail system is kind of clogged up right now.
