Del, not all conservatives are members of the Religious Right. It is true that in Virginia (where I live) the Religious Right are very active in the Republican Party, but the present Governor (Gilmore) and the last one (George Allen), although they have the support of the Religious Right, were not themselves Religious Right. Unless you define Religious Right as anyone who opposes abortion.

Abortion is the issue that motivates the Religious Right to participate in politics, and to support the Republican party. I truly believe that if the Democrat Party tried to ban abortion, the Religious Right would, en masse, switch their voter registration to Democrat.
