This purchase of ENVOY could make QTRN a Goliath. Think of it, if a CRO could get its hands on 1 billion transactions, medical claims, a year ... free. The claims for payment to insurance carriers are complete with all the pertinent data such as patient sex, age, diagnosis, treatment done, drug prescribed, location, prescribing physician, and more. That is a incredible treasure trove of information to analyze. Given QTRN's expertise in this area, there could be a incredible contribution to medical research.
The possible uses of this database of substantially what is being prescribed and performed is hard to imagine. For one easy example, how many women, at what age, are being seen, prescribed what medicine, and so on, in, say, the first trimester of their pregnancy. All this is readily available or at least can be easily computed, from a medical claim sent by the doctor to the insurance company. And you have this information from all the women across the country! QTRN knows better what questions to ask of this database.
I only hope they know what they bought and what information can be extracted from the transactions and how they could use it in the CRO business. |
