Actually the last Harris poll showed 86% of Americans wanting to keep Clinton in office, but that was over the weekend on CNN so that very possibly might have changed over the last few days.

And yes I agree he did spend a lot of his political capital getting the democrats to rally round him, but I think it wil go to senate and it will be voted down.

I mean I am trying to look at the whole picture, here. This is not a kid setting off a fire alarm in a school, lying about it and the school administration deciding whether or not to expell. This si our country we're talking about, already severly damaged by this scandal and subsequent lies and truths. I do not think Gore is yet capable or ready to assume the duties of President, and I don't think the country is looking that far yet to understand that's what will happen if Clinton is removed from office. Don't get me wrong, Gore is a fine Vice president..but deputy's rarely make good sheriffs..and our current sheriff, warts and all, is better than the alternative for the next year and a half.
