To robert: Should not have used abbreviation or jargon. CDMA stands for Code Division Multiple Access. It is the most rapidly growing form of digital wireless communication in the world. The older digital technology with a huge installed base and still growing is GSM which is the European digital wireless system which has been installed around the world. TDMA is an even older system (Time Division Multiple Access) which was pioneered by AT&T and still used in the US and to some extent in Latin America. Analog is the oldest of all, is currently being converted to digital (usually CDMA) in the US and elsewhere. The reason I have posted all this stuff is my interest in whether Texas Instruments will participate in the most rapidly growing wireless technology (Code Division Multiple Access), and if so, how and to what extent? TXN's DSPs could find a major market in wireless. So far TXN's primary customer in wireless, as I understand it, is Ericsson which has not joined the CDMA bandwagon. Nokia has - as have Lucent, Nortel, Motorola and others. Just hoping that TXN will be involved as a chip supplier in this growing field. Chaz PS Qualcomm pioneered this technology so you can learn about it in SI on the Qualcomm thread or go to the Qualcomm website www.qualcomm for much more complete info.
