MB,>>>Seriously, go back and read the crap these guys were spouting last year. Mikey Dell was saying 20% growth in pc sales for the industry and the researchers couldn't go too low and still get Mikey to pay them. Better a miss that hurts your reputation than losing a customer that pays your bills.<<<
I agree with you in that a lot of conclusions are drawn based on preconceived bias and/or on information that is incomplete, poorly put together, and perhaps on a poor definition of what is relevant information.
But, I'm not convinced that you are less biased and are more ethical than the people that work at Deloitte Consulting - as an example.
Being quite a few years older than you are (I will not say how much), it is my judgement that you are a sincere young man with quite a bit of talent - but I think you are overdoing it with your pessimism concerning the future, this country, technology in general, the future role of the computer, and people's willingness to get together to lie for personal gain. Getting people together and agree to lie is just as difficult as getting people together to agree to do some good - in either case - it is not easy.
I believe that computer technology is in it's infancy and that it will have a very positive effect on civilization for the future.
I hope you are wrong, but I wish you the best.
Sincerely,
Mary Cluney |
