You were right about that transfer form. Datek finally contacted me and said they couldn't make the transfer until they received this form. Nice of them to tell people this. Even when I specifically asked what forms I needed when I originally opened the account, they failed to mention this Datek transfer form. If it wasn't for Island, it really wouldn't have been worth the fight.

I have asked around about what point they consider you converted and what balance they use. Got both answers. When they receive the paperwork and when the money actually enters the new ROTH account.

To compound that, the state I live in does not recognize the ROTH. So when I retire I will have to pay state cap gains on my withdrawals. I love the tax code. : )
