Petz - Re: " The reason I ask is that the first >500 MHz CPU from Intel is supposed to be the 533 MHz Katmai, scheduled for 2nd quarter of '99. "

The 533 MHz Katmai will be introduced concurrently with the Camino (820) chip set which, as you know, will run at 133 MHz.

The 4x multiplier (FSB - to - CPU) will yield the 533 MHz speed.

Re: " Therefore, it seems that unless Intel can accelerate the development of the 820 chipset,..."

Intel has had functional, working silicon on the Camino since October - and it was surreptitiously demoed at Comdex.

The final Camino silicon should be shipping to customers in Q1 with a late Q2 roll out of the 533 MHz Katmai with the Camino chip set.

Q399 and Q499 will produce the 0.18 micron versions - Coppermine and Cascades along with (Potentially) the Colusa chip set.
