SEIKO KINETIC: seiko-corp.co.jp

Advertising slogans from the QuickTime movie (also used in TV commercials now playing): "If you're going to create electricity... use it! The Seiko Kinetic watch -- electrically charged every time you move your body. Someday, all watches will be made this way."

The capacitor stores enough energy for 7-14 days, most men's models; 3-7 days, most ladies. Price range is $225-$995. Introduced 1994.

Of watches on the market, this may be nearest in concept to the ....Time Bomb....
For sake of comparison, check out INNER WORKS:

In the Seiko system the rotation of the rotary weight is increased ~100X by a gear train mechanism; the rotor comprises N- and S-polar permanent magnets; the changing magnet flux resulting from the rotation of the rotor generates an AC voltage output from the generator by electromagnetic induction; the current produced by this emf is then rectified by a diode and supplied to a 'step-up' circuit which is used to charge a smoothing capacitor at higher voltage. The energy stored in the capacitor is used to drive a quartz oscillator circuit.
