Robbie, As long you admit it is conjecture on your part that Compaq will require a "substantial source of funding" to make it through this period, hopefully no one will take it for any more than that.

That is not my conjecture. That is a conclusion directly supported by statements in the "Liquidity" section of Compaq's 10-Q. Have you read it? If you have, do you understand it? If you are an investor in CPQ it should be required reading.

My conjecture is that CPQ will come under significant selling pressure when people like you see your company suddenly require an infusion of cash. It will come as a great surprise to you, because you believe that the people who take the time to read and analyze your company independently discover liquidity problems are arrogant. I will point out that the "arrogant" Mr. Jim Kelley predicted channel stuffing well before your humble and forthcoming Mr. Pfeiffer admitted to it.

The reason I am not thoroughly familiar with Compaq's operation is that I have seen enough to convince me that it is not the kind of company in which I wish to invest. Since I am generally paid for the work I do, I see no point in mucking around, so my comments were based on a cursory view in response to a question from a friend. However, I freely share my comments and observations (such as they are) with others. Now, if you wish to hire me to delve into Compaq's finances in depth, I would be happy to consider the offer.

Barring that, go read the 10-Q and then come back and show me where I'm wrong.

TTFN,
CTC "the arrogant"
