Clinton is a moderate, and able to bring together 2 extreme sides and gain some sort of cohesion, where other presidents have not been able to do that when the congress is controlled by the opposition. Take the Brady Bill for example. How long has that been out there - forever. Everybody wants it, the people want it, we all know the NRA does not, and it was stalled forever in the Reagan and Bush admins dispite the obvious advantages to the law and Sarah Bradys lobbying. Finally, with Clinton in the WH, some progress is made on these assault weapons etc. We should have had laws against assault weapons 15 years ago. Same thing with these outlandish drug prices in the US. Clinton isnt afraid to attack the drug companies for unfair pricing policies and subsidizing mkt share in the 3rd world at our expense. Know how much those hemopheliac drugs cost? Well, before Clinton, close to $8000/month. Now, much less, he put some controls in and was not afraid of special interests etc. Im not saying hes perfect but on these domestic issues that went unchecked for years Clinton finally did something. Also his appointments I am satisfied with, Janet Reno etc prior to this I thought was ok. The appointments I had a real problem with were Thomas and Souter (sp?) on the supreme court, based on their abilities only I was not impressed.
