Ken: My bus. clients cover a wide spectrum, all will slow in 1999.Me too.
I am feeling it now, Ken. The fourth quarter is slower for all of my clients, personal service thru mfg. Payments for services are slowing, containers are unavailable in asia, so my clients cannot take advantage of the monetary situation, delivery is slow and cannot be predicted. There is a huge backup in the asian ports, no containers coming in, therefor, no containers can be emptied, refilled and shipped out. One exception, housing construction and building trades seems to still be good, however, a big plumbing contractor has informed me that he expects his bus. to slow in 1999 also.
Ken: my personal feeling is that any company that relies on expansion through borrowing can be put into a crisis situation much quicker than a company with good cash management and slower growth. Nextel doesn't fit this situation, does it? The icing on this cake cracked when Nextel had to shut down construction due to cash flow problems, everyone in the industry knows about it, the investors know about it, heck, even I expected it.
