Sorry, couldnt resist it :-) He may very well have last laugh but then as I mentioned before the last quarter could be reflective of all the hesitance you mentioned before regarding the true X2 modem availability within a month. But I think investors can see the potential now if they are on track with turning on the switch of X2 so falling shy of estimates should not matter. Look at the effect of ASND's call. For a high growth company, which should (as per their CEO's comments) grow 25% Q-Q for atleast a year more, coming in with EPS a cent more than last quarter should have thrashed the stock.
