Tim, Island orders now stay live. If you're using Island, your order will remain until you're filled or the market moves away. I currently use AB Watley as well but have experience with other brokerage firms utilizing the Island ECN. It used to be the case that Island was horrendous and partials were common place. However, for most of this year (since they modified Island), the bids and offers do remain....ultimately it just depends if someone is willing to hit your bid or take your offer. I hope this helps.
