Matt. 11: Jesus speaking: 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS ((CAPS MINE)) 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
v. 30 zugos:G2218 . chrestos:G5543 . . phortion:G5413 . elaphros:G1645
2218. zugos, dzoo-gos'; from the root of zeugnumi (to join espec. by a "yoke"); a coupling, i.e. (fig.) servitude a law or obligation); also (lit.) the beam of the balance (as connecting the scales):--pair of balances, yoke. 5543. chrestos, khrase-tos'; from G5530; employed, i.e. (by impl.) useful (in manner or morals):--better, easy, good (-ness), gracious, kind. 5413. phortion, for-tee'-on; dimin. of G5414; an invoice (as part of freight), i.e. (fig.) a task or service:--burden. 1645. elaphros, el-af-ros'; prob. akin to G1643 and the base of G1640; light, i.e. easy:--light.
Is it a question of whether Jesus could physically carry a piece of timber to his place of execution, or is the question more the fact that He carried my SIN to His death..........then He defeated death........ forever. Thus His burden is light because the work that I could not do....is done.
IMO the burden we are asked to carry is much much lighter than eternal darkness. OUR BURDEN??
..to believe that HE IS .
