ITHACA, N.Y., March 7 (Reuter) - Paracelsian Inc said studies showed company drug PN27,1 effectively blocks the secretion of prostate-specific antigen and the growth of prostate cancer cells. The antigen is among the most widely used biochemical indicators of prostate canc The studies were carried out at the Virginia Prostate Center, a joint program sponsored by the Eastern Virginia Medical School and the Sentara Cancer Institute. PN27,1 is one of several pharmaceuticals that are being studied by Paracelsian for their potential benefit for the treatment of cancer, acquired immune deficiency syndrome and heart disease.
