>>The House will vote to impeach. The White House will then get 33 or more Senators to sign a petition indicating that they will not vote to remove him from office (Huey Long strategy). The Republican senators will try to embarrass him a bit with an inquiry, but it will be all over after that.

Wrong. The House will impeach and 50+ Senators will back a trial in the Senate. As it stands Clinton will remain, fully disgraced and an albatross for the Dems in 2000.

>>Except for 2000, when the Democrats will regain control of Congress and retain the presidency.

Wrong. Gore loses big to Bush as voters tire of the prospect of four more years of scandal. Bush, with the help of all those Republican governors, brings in larger Republican majorities with him.

>>The only real question is whether the Republican party will survive after it loses its moderate wing.

Wrong. The moderate wing is fully on board since Clinton committed impeachable acts. The striking thing is that the Dems have proven they have no moderate wing and w/o an expert liar like Clinton they will be relegated to an idiotlogical minority for the next 25 years.

And so the country will prosper....
