Gerald...You are right, that's why I set up a Canadian account.

I consider myself to be a medium to long term PM equity investor.
In light of that, it is difficult to bypass the resource stocks listed only on the Canadian exchanges. Black Hawk Mining (T.BHK) is a prime example, And should be familiar to all SSRIF stockholders. I own it as a leverage play on SSRIF. Without an account that can trade directly on the Toronto exchange you get hosed by the market maker
and exchange rate as you mentioned. That is why I use Green Line
Investor Services (a division of Waterhouse) for Canadian companies.
1-800-862-9515. It is the only way to go if one wishes to trade outside the limited selection of companies listed on American exchanges.
