When you're trying to buy a stock that essentially has no volume the market makers will not play let's make a deal. This seems odd to the investor who thinks that with such a low volume, the MM's will be happy to get any money but it does not work this way. They will let an order go unfilled rather than take less than the ask. They make their money on the spread. The less trading a stock has, the increase in spread, this applies in reverse too. I am not surprised that you did not get your order filled at .05 even though the ask was .0525
