Nike beats Street
Nike Inc. posted better-than-expected fiscal
second quarter results Thursday, reflecting
the footwear giant's efforts to cut costs.
Nike earned 24 cents a share in the period,
down from 48 cents a year ago, but slightly
better than Wall Street's estimate of 22
cents. However, revenues fell 15 percent
and future orders for the next three months
slipped 10 percent.

Of course, no one cares that the 24 cents beat earnings that had been dropped. Time to run this baby to 50?
