Queens area anyone? >Duke Tech: First ISP in Queens Borough of New York City to Offer High-Speed, Internet Access via DSL FYI

December 17, 1998 -- Duke Tech, a
pioneer ISP in high-speed Internet
access, today announced it will offer
high speed DSL services through an
agreement with Covad Communications
Company. This offering is the first of its
kind to be introduced in the Queens area.
High speed Internet access will now be
available to businesses throughout
Queens in early 1999.

DSL, which stands for digital subscriber
line, is an emerging technology which
enables high-speed data rates, ideal for
Internet access. Rather than using
expensive TI lines or settling for a dial-up
connection that averages 56 Kbps on a
good day, small businesses or home
offices now have an alternative. ADSL,
asymmetric digital subscriber line,
provides throughput rates of up to 1.54
Mbps.

"We are proud to be one of the first
providers for the new ADSL services
which will offer access at speeds up to
1.54 Mbps. This at least 27 times faster
than a traditional dial-up connection, and
a fraction of the cost of Frame-Relay T1
lines,'' stated Wen K. Liao, president and
CEO for Duke Tech. "We have already
gotten tremendous response from our
current client base of companies.
Furthermore, we plan to aggressively
market these services in 1999.''

Pricing for the service through Duke
Tech has not yet been officially
announced. For more information about
subscribing to this service, contact Duke
Tech at (718) 961-3259.
