<<<On the contrary, that line was used over and over by US spokepeople in the days when they were trying to build support for the war.>>>

Charles read my lips...I said policy...not rhetoric. The POLICY was laid out in the U.N mandate and no where did it say that the POLICY was to install a democracy in Kuwait or Iraq.

<<<I can't belive that you would think that a man who is a serial torturer, a mass murderer, and a poisoner with every intention of building nuclear, biological, and nerve gas capability is a good bet. This is the kind of political thinking that the US used in Vietnam and Cambodia. Bet you loved that Lon Nol, too. >>>

Charles, I haven't used this word before but F*CK YOU! Before you label my politics I suggest you at least get it right first. It is common knowledge that the U.S. government felt that Sadaam Hussein WAS their best bet. This has been stated so many times that it is amazing that it even has to be repeated. The reason given is that there might be someone worse. Anyone who believes this is fooling themselves. I hate to break this to you Charles but we live in a dangerous world and if you think it's the kiddies, doggies and ponies that politicians give a damn about Sadaam Hussein would have been gone long ago. Use your brain and figure out why he is still there!

<<<Is democracy something that only Europeans are good enough for, or is it just that our lives are worth less than a barrel of oil?">>>

No, it's something that is established on the blood and lives of patriots. you don't achieve it by waiting for someone to give it to you.
