SIDEWARE INSTALLS DEMONSTRATION SYSTEM IN SAIC'S E-COMMERCE LABORATORY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - DECEMBER 17, 1998

Vancouver, BC - Sideware (VSE symbol: SYD) has installed a demonstration version of Dr. Bean, an e-commerce storefront solution and customer service tool, in Science Applications International Corporation's (SAIC) e-commerce laboratory in McLean, Va. In September 1998, SAIC signed a marketing agreement with Sideware to provide a framework to market Sideware's e-commerce products and solutions to major companies and government agencies.

Sideware is currently testing a demonstration storefront solution showcasing Dr. Bean, a 100 percent Java developed customer service module.
The storefront includes e-commerce components built with IBM middleware.
SAIC engineers are interfacing Dr. Bean with other software systems and demonstrating the product's applicability in an e-commerce environment to potential clients.

"SAIC is using Dr. Bean to enhance the e-commerce and non-e-commerce
Internet services we provide to government and commercial customers," said Tom Cramer, director of Electronic Commerce at SAIC. "Dr. Bean provides real time, online, interactive customer service on the Internet."
