According to your post Dec 1 you stated....

"...SUN being acquired in next 90 days by Lucent or IBM. Anyone confirm that. Attorneys at companies are in talks..."

Now you state "...wait 22 days..."; that would make it January 7 as the date for some announcement.

The only company I can think with such a time constraint would be Lucent. As a long term SUNW stock holder, Lucent would be the only company I would agree with for a merger if (1) a stiff premium was paid by LU...say 30% and (2) Lucent allowed current management to remain in control, (3) if the combination of companies provided SIGNIFICANT long term "growth" gains to SUNW for implementation of their company vision and (4) Lucent paid all SUNW stock holders an ongoing "preferred" dividend representing the significant new income streams SUNW will provide in the future.

Again, a Lucent merger may provide SUNW's management the necessary horse power for SUNW to accomplish it's mission faster going into the next millennium.

Sunw can certainly accomplish it alone, but perhaps with Lucent's large broad market base, several new potential markets would open up faster for many of Sunw's new products and services.

This investor would entertain a Lucent offer but no others. It also would cost LU shareholders dearly.

EKS

P.S. As a trial balloon...let's hear from other long term SUNW holders regarding a Lucent merger...both Pro's and Con's.
