Jane,
In regards to the "hell" tape on the web site SOROS found. I asked a guy I know on SI who works for BP and knows his stuff about drilling deep wells. What he told me left me convinced the tape is not for real. The deepest well in the world is in Russia but not the area of Russia mentioned on the web site. He also described the problems involved in drilling deep and one is temperature. From what he said the temperature claimed on the web site would be impossible to drill under. The drill bit would seize up in the ground if it became dry, water has to be pumped through all the time. It is not easy to drill at a well head temp of around 500 degrees and the web site claimed 2000 degrees. He also said the deepest well is only half the depth of the well depth claimed on that web site. My opinion of the tape was that it sounded like a crowded subway I had been in at rush hour. <gg>

cya,

Bob
