SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 17, 1998--Internet software superstore Beyond.com(tm) (Nasdaq:BYND) said today that it has been chosen to build an online store that caters to the software needs of Palm Computing(R) organizer customers.

For devotees of the pocket-sized, connected organizer, the online store represents the most convenient way to buy the more than hundreds of software applications now available for the Palm Computing platform. Some popular applications include productivity, scheduling/contact management, email, and business programs.

To ensure the high caliber of product, Beyond.com will sell Palm(tm) platinum-branded software in the new store. Palm Computing-compatible products that bear the platinum label are required to meet rigorous standards for quality, usability and hardware and software compatibility.

Under the agreement, Beyond.com is the only software store featuring platinum-branded products that has been granted a direct link to its web site beyond.com from Palm Computing's web site palm.com, making it easier for the more than two million Palm Computing organizer owners to stock up on software and accessories for their devices. The debut of the store will help holiday shoppers find the ideal holiday gift for Palm Computing aficionados.

"Opening an online store devoted to software for the Palm Computing platform reinforces Palm's leadership position in hand-held computing technology," said Brian Sroub, vice-president of marketing at Beyond.com. "We support Palm in the delivery of software that helps people stay connected and organized from shirt pocket to desktop."

Andrea Butter, acting vice-president of marketing at Palm Computing, Inc., a 3Com company, said, "We chose Beyond.com to build the electronic store because of its Internet expertise, reputation for customer satisfaction and superb relationships with quality software developers."

The store will offer boxed and digital download versions of such popular Palm Computing compatible software titles as IntelliGolf by Karrier Communications, Desktop to Go by DataViz, and Smartcode's HandMAIL.
