No, the Russian State Duma is NOT calling on Monica Lewinski to assist in "restraining Bill Clinton's emotions." An obscure legislator by name of Alexander Filatov made a motion that the Duma do so, as noted by the AP story Bill Vaughn posted.

There are quite a few "oddballs" in the Russian Duma, quite capable of making such motions or performing other sorts of stunts, just to get a little attention. (Zhirinovsky is the best known example.) But the Duma as a whole can't be that crazy.

OOPS, APOLOGY! APOLOGY! -- NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING! I just saw a story in the Washington Post, and it seems that the Duma HAS INDEED BECOME THAT CRAZY!

But don't laugh, ladies and gentlemen. I knew things in Russia had been going downhill in recent months, but this is a shocking demonstration of just how far downhill...A very serious matter, indeed. :-((
