I agree with much of what you say, but how does one knock the best record in investing there was in the mutual funds. Lynch just happened to manage the fund. It was his investments for the fund. Not someones elses. He had the best tract record that has not been beat over the long term yet. If you would have read his books you would have learned that he DOESN'T listen to what the so called experts think. Invest on what you think is a winner. If you own AOL you have obviously wisely invested. Congrats. to you. Some people obviously research to they're blue in the face. I'm not that detailed. My major interest is what is going on with trends with people, their needs, and what they are buying.. As for mutual funds being outdated, I don't agree with you. In my opinion part of ones portfolio should include mutual funds in the area you want. I'm heavily into high techs and the internet. Small in mutual funds. The S&P 500 index fund over the past three years compounded annual is about 130%. Not bad. Yes some individual stocks have done better, but the S&P 500 is a very good conservative investment for many, especially seniors (I'm not one).

Good Luck LindyBill.
