Just looked through the today's paper and
in a Best Buy advertisement, there was another OEM, CTX, with a 400MHz K6-2 based PC. Although not Tier 1, I would say they are Tier 2. For $1499, you got a 17" monitor, printer, 64MB RAM, and a 4th generation DVD-ROM drive. Maybe CTX got the 400 before IBM and others because CTX almost = CXT ;)
There was also the popular Compaq 400MHz K6-2 system in the flier. It only had a 3rd generation DVD-ROM drive.

What's the difference btwn 3rd and 4th gen DVD-ROM drives???
