From the recent past, the KM focus and the Mitsu patent situation were kind of long shot attempts from a "Fortress Ampex" perspective. The newly suggested direction would bring in, at a more equal partner level (note the need for respect for entrepreneurial types in the job posting) a lot of synergy and cross thinking which can be very valuable in rejuvenating and reinvigorating this company which many have criticized as being slow to move and slow to capitalize upon ideas. Fresh ideas and innovative thinking can be quite infectuous given the supportive environment which it needs. Ed Perry
