Eric, what are your thoughts about this $999 deal at Best Buy? I wonder if Apple is really pissed at them right now. I suppose Best Buy doesn't have a lot to lose if Apple drops them again over this. Or maybe there's something bigger going on here. But it seems that it is still Apple's policy to keep MAP at $1299 through Christmas.

Either way, I think Apple has a great quarter. Cutting the price now does get a little messy for those who purchased the machine recently for Christmas and those who signed up for the financing deal.

The timing is interesting too, as options expire tomorrow.

Interesting times. When do we expect the PC Data November report out?

And what does everyone else think about this Best Buy action?

I have to say that I'm tempted to call up a few people I know who don't have computers and tell them to go to Best Buy and pick up the machine, even though I fear for them if they need service further down the line. I'd rather send them to CompUSA.

Marc
