Marty, I have more ideas than the time needed to write them down, but here is a start. I will try not to repeat the good ideas that have been posted in the past. First, a couple of questions.
Question 1: What is the policy of TSIG regarding the distribution of MusicCards? (Maybe Dixie can answer this question.) Does the company plan on giving away the cards for free to build a client base? That way, TSIG would get CD orders and card reloads, but just will not get revenue from the initial MusicCard purchase. Or, does TSIG want to partner with organization who will pay a small fee to distribute the cards, since there is a real benefit TO THE DISTRIBUTOR to pass out the cards.
Question 2: The MusicCardTM I received is plastic. Is there a reason not to use "heavy" weight paper instead? If the cards are going to be distributed for free (see "Question 1") then paper makes much more sense. Paper is cheaper, and thinner (important for shipping - You can fit probably 5 times more paper cards in a box than plastic cards).
Distribution target 1: Gas stations. Does anyone remember the pre-paid telephone cards distributed by Mobil (and probably by other gas stations)? The PAPER cards had 5 free minutes on them and were given to anyone who purchased more than 8 gallons of premium gas (or whatever). How about a 3 or 5 unit Mobil MusicCardTM? Since there is a benefit to Mobil for distributing the card, so how about a small fee from Mobil for the right to distribute them?
Distribution target 2: Large retailers (Wal-Mart, Sams Club, Meijer, etc.). How about giving away a 5 unit Wal-Mart MusicCardTM for free at checkout with purchases of 10 dollars of more?
Distribution target 3: Skateboard or snowboard manufactuers/retailers. I assume purchasers of this equipment will be young people, who buy a lot of CDs. How about a program with a major manufacturer to provide MusicCards packaged with the snowboard, for example. If not that, then maybe buying the manufacture's database of clients and sending out mass mailings with free "sample" 3 unit MusciCards? How about MusicCards free with a $10 or more purchase from Dick's Sporting Goods, or other retailers of snowboards, skateboards, etc.
Distribution target 4: Free MusicCard distribution deals with on-line retailers of "teenager" products (e.g., on-line snowboard sales companies). This way you target computer users, plus you get the right age group.
That is all for now.
Good luck!
